Maria Silva’s isn’t a franchise or a brand licence — it’s Maria, in the shop, most days you’ll visit.
Meet Maria
A dressmaker before she was a shopkeeper.
Maria trained as a seamstress long before Maria Silva’s existed, and it shows — she’s the one pinning hems on a Tuesday morning, not just running the till. The shop grew out of that: brides kept asking her to alter dresses bought elsewhere, until it made sense to sell the dresses too.
The prom rail came later, after one too many mums asked if she’d fit their daughter the same way she’d fitted them for their wedding. Now the shop does both — properly, by hand, one appointment at a time.
How we work
A few things we believe in
No double-booking
Every appointment gets the full shop. We never overlap fittings, so you’ll never feel rushed or like you’re sharing Maria’s attention.
Honest opinions
If something isn’t working, Maria will say so. Not unkindly — but you’re here to find the right dress, not to hear that everything looks perfect.
In-house everything
Alterations happen on-site, by Maria. No sending gowns away to a third party — the person who sold it to you finishes it.
Gowns from elsewhere welcome
Bought your dress somewhere else and need it altered? That’s fine. Bring it in — we’ll take a look and quote you honestly.
